From May 25 to 29, 2026, Shanghai Clearing House (SHCH) attended the 58th Annual General Meeting of the International Capital Market Association (ICMA) held in London, the United Kingdom, and visited relevant institutions in the United Kingdom and France. He also held talks with Bryan Pascoe, CEO of ICMA, Klaus Löber, Chair of the Central Counterparty Supervisory Committee of the European Securities and Markets Authority (ESMA), Susi de Verdelon, Chief Executive Officer of London Clearing House (LCH), and other representatives.

During the panel "Unlocking capital: Advancing bond markets globally", Chairman Ma Jianyang focused on the development of bond markets in emerging economies. Based on SHCH’s long-term vision of building a general registration and depository institution for offshore RMB bond assets and a major central counterparty for offshore RMB financial product transactions, he introduced the company’s innovative business achievements including the Yulan Issuance Model, Free Trade Offshore Bonds and Swap Connect. He also shared SHCH’s practical experience of balancing opening-up and risk management to support global investors in allocating RMB assets, and conveyed China’s commitment to opening up bond market.

In meetings with ICMA, ESMA, LCH and other institutions, Chairman Ma Jianyang briefed the counterparts on the latest progress of SHCH’s businesses, exchanged views on topics such as the development of the global bond market, risk management collaboration among central counterparties, and mutual recognition of financial infrastructure supervision. He stated that SHCH will act as a bridge, coordinate opening-up and security, further consolidate and deepen existing cooperation, explore broader cooperation scope, build a key "one-stop access" channel serving high-level financial opening-up, and provide safe, convenient and efficient financial infrastructure services for global investors to participate in China’s market. Bryan Pascoe, CEO of ICMA, Klaus Löber, Chair of the Central Counterparty Supervisory Committee of ESMA, and Susi de Verdelon, Chief Executive Officer of LCH, stated that they will work together with SHCH to strengthen communication and coordination, deepen innovative exploration, and deliver higher-quality support for global investors to allocate RMB assets and enhance risk management capabilities.

SHCH also visited overseas branches of Chinese banks including Bank of China Paris Branch, Bank of China London Branch and China Construction Bank London Branch. Heads of each institution stated that they will leverage the client resource advantages of local RMB clearing banks, actively join SHCH’s global cooperation network, participate in innovative businesses such as Free Trade Offshore Bonds, jointly advance the development of the offshore RMB market, and boost high-level financial opening-up.
To better demonstrate the opening-up achievements and innovative practices of China’s interbank market, SHCH set up an exhibition booth at the venue during the ICMA conference. It conducted extensive exchanges with guests from more than 60 countries and regions, presented SHCH’s products and services for overseas investors, and showcased the open image of China’s financial infrastructure.
